The 1st Biennial UAE Curriculum Conference and Institute was recently held at Higher Colleges of Technology- Dubai Men’s Campus, November 25-26, 2012. The 1st Biennial UAE Curriculum Conference and Institute will be under the patronage, and in the presence, of H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Chancellor of the Higher Colleges of Technology.
This conference promotes the H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan’s vision to raise awareness, and embed the use, of mobile technology in the fabric of learning and teaching. Specifically, the conference will showcase best practices in curriculum design and will feature technology integration that enables education to meet the global and industrial requirements of modern societies. The conference will help to reinforce HCT’s position as a leader in the MENA Region in digital curriculum design.
International speakers to be featured at this conference will include: Dr. Alan Goodman, Dr. Robert Budnik, Dr. Alan Waters, Janet Hale, Steve Thyberg, Jennifer Jortner, James Ashby, Nick Nunnington, Dr. Michelle Estable, Alicia Salaz and Fagdéba A. Bakoyéma. The speakers and presenters will showcase the possibilities that digital content can bring to curriculum learning outcomes. The conference will focus on the need to bring teaching and learning into the 21st Century and beyond.
The first day of the two-day conference, Sunday, November 25, will consist of plenaries and panel discussions dealing with the changes necessary to successfully meet the needs of digital native learners. They will explore the tools and methods that facilitate the delivery of curriculum through digital content. The second day, Monday, November 26, will feature workshops to allow maximum participation.
