We are proud to celebrate an exciting professional milestone for Yvonne, who recently earned another Competent Learner Model (CLM) WVU micro-credential badge through West Virginia University, completing the third course in the CLM badge sequence.
Reflecting on the accomplishment, Yvonne shared:
“I’m happy to share a milestone. I’ve earned a new WVU micro-credential badge in the CLM program. This badge includes Unit 9: A’s, and I’m proud to apply the skills I’ve built to support high-quality coaching.”
This achievement represents more than just coursework—it reflects deep engagement with the Competent Learner Model, a framework designed to improve learning outcomes for students with learning and behavioral challenges. CLM emphasizes precise teaching, thoughtful instructional design, and responsive coaching so learners—and the adults who support them—can thrive.
The WVU Competent Learner Model micro-credential program is a four-badge, sequential learning experience for professionals in education and human services who are interested in becoming Certified CLM Instructors.
Each badge integrates:
Participants typically spend 4–6 hours per week engaging in online modules, applied practice, and reflection. While much of the program is asynchronous, learners also participate in every-other-week online seminars, weekly meetings with a CLM coach, and performance-based feedback using real instructional recordings.
To complete the badges, participants work directly with a learner, apply CLM techniques in real time, and receive mentoring to ensure skills are both effective and ethical.
